How to Prevent a Sore Throat from Progressing to a Cold

Got this email forwarded to me by my colleague.

How to Prevent a Sore Throat from Progressing to a Cold
By Dr. Ben Kim
Natural Health Solutions

Before I share a great little tip on how to stop a sore throat from progressing into a week-long cold, please know that periodically experiencing a cold or the flu can actually be helpful to your health. If you have no idea why this is, please view the following popular article that I wrote on this topic:

What Most Doctors Won't Tell You About Colds and Flus

You just won't get this information on why colds and flus can help you stay healthy over the long run from medical textbooks and mainstream media - please consider sharing it with family and friends.

Although experiencing a cold or the flu once in a while can help rid your body of your weakest cells, I'm willing to bet that there are times when you would really prefer to delay such a period of cleansing and malaise.

Here's how you can stand a good chance of preventing a cold from developing:

As soon as you experience that sore, tickly feeling in your throat that precedes a full-blown cold, gargle with warm salt water.

And when I say gargle, I mean really gargle; take in a mouthful of warm salt water, look up at the ceiling, and gargle aggressively. You may want to tap at your throat (the Adam's apple region) with your fingers while you gargle to encourage the warm salt water to trickle deeply into your throat.

Gargle like this several times with a glass of warm salt water, and repeat as often as possible throughout the day.

Warm salt water can remove viruses from the tonsils and adenoids that line the back of your throat region. Viruses that cause colds and flus typically get caught by your tonsils and adenoids before they spread through your body. Your tonsils and adenoids are important parts of your immune system because they are located near the entrance of your breathing passages, and they serve as a first line of defense against undesirable airborne microorganisms and substances.

This, by the way, is why it is best not to remove tonsils and adenoids from your throat region. Chronic swelling of tonsils and adenoids is best addressed by reducing sugar intake, adopting a minimally processed diet that is rich in fresh plant foods, and supporting immune system health by getting plenty of rest, exercise, and exposure to sunlight and fresh air.

Cold salt water may also help to remove viruses from your tonsils and adenoids, but warm salt water tends to be more effective.
Warm water may help to melt the fatty coating that protects viruses that cause the cold and flu.

What if you gargle for all you're worth but still end up developing a full-blown cold?

Get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take comfort in knowing that countless viruses are at work destroying your weakest cells. And don't forget to blow your nose as often as it runs; help your body get rid of what it wants to get rid of.

Awesome Experience

Aku pegi F1 lah kawan2. My seat betul2 kat pitstop Nico Rosberg and Schumacher. Bising ya amat. Boleh tak jumpa Dr. esok cakap saya nak cuti sebab nak rehatkan gegendang telinga saya. Dah pakai earplug dah, bising jugak. Boleh bergegar cuping telinga. Nak tido ni baru terasa.

Anyway, it was such an awesome eperience.

Ia akan berada di kotak medula oblongata saya untuk selama2nya.

Saya ada amik gambar yg tak seberapa, nanti saya load ok. Ni gambar amik dr phone jek.

Gambar tu masa media and org2 VIP nak tour the pitstop.

Luar Biasa

While driving and listening to the radio a few days ago, I listened to one song.  First, I don’t know the singer but I can guess it from Shahir.  I like it from the first I listened to it.  Today only I knew the title of the song and its from Shahir.

Since I don’t have Astro at home (Yes people, I don’t have ASTRO).. weird isn’t.  I used to subscribe to ASTRO last time but due to one incident, we have to terminate the service.  Blame it on their customer care consultant.

Anyway, I came to know Shahir after he won AF8 and I  don’t really like his song Perpisahan sth…  I watched him during the Anugerah Juara Lagu Rehearsal and also Live.  I can tell you, he got so many fans especially the girls.

To tell you the truth, my support is only to Faizal Tahir.  I will get excited when it comes to Faizal Tahir (Adik aku cakap aku poyo sebab lepas Faizal Tahir nyanyi, aku jerit macam nak rak).  Btw, I like this song as I like tomok’s song – Bidadari but first priority is FT’s songs. ;)

Budak Gemuk vs Mummy Gemuk

Masa baring and time tidurkan Alesya, dia pun cerita what happened at preschool.

Alesya: Papa, tadi kat sekolah ada budak kencing dalam seluar. Dia 6 years.

Papa: Ummmm, dah besar tu.

Me: Listening and browsing Babycenter (not all the blogs that sell handbags) like i used to..

Alesya: Dia budak lelaki, gemuk taaaapppiiiiii taklah gemuk macam Mummy.

Papa: (Ketawalah apa lagi)... Thank you Alesya! Laughed again..

Me: Apa???? Alesya cakap Mummy gemuk?

End Story!

I'm only 4 mths pregnancy, dah cakap Gemuk!

wardina-kongsi-tips-latih-anaknya-lekat-sembahyang

*Got this from hubby.  I must said that Wardina has done tremendous and marvelous job in ensuring her daughter perform solat 5 times a day.  I don't think I can do this to Akif! I have not tried to him, I should… He is going to celebrate his 7th birthday soon.. Basically, he has basic, all he needs is to practice and do it as a routine.

Dear Mama, Ummi, Mum, Ibu, Bonda...

I have to share this with you... because i feel so happy and i feel that all my penat lelah paid off... I started to make my Amna to solat 5 times a day when she was 7, on her 7th birthday... we had a talk... (check note lama) tapi preparation since 6 la...

tapi dari kecik memang selalu ikut2 la kami solat.... she hasnt missed her solat since. Walaupun lambat, tetap solat. I made sure of that - because the key is SOLAT ni kalau tak tanam dari kecik memang LIAT nanti.... But it is very important to keep this in mind:-

1) kalau kita bagi dia tinggal WALAUPUN sekali nanti we are sending the wrong signal - kena make sure - every waktu without fail, walaupun penat, ataupun lambat

2)l Selalu kalau boleh solat together..mula2 memang kena solat together....kalau tak ada rumah make sure an adult in the house pastikan anak kita solat. (hari tu Amna pergi her reading class, i asked her teacher to take her to the surau) -lepas solat time tu lah peluk cium, senyum - i always kiss her at the head and say "Barakallahufiha" Ya Allah make my Amna a good Muslim Ya Allah....make her never miss her solat Ya Allah.....kuat2 bagi dia dengar....

ps:- kalau kena amik cuti ambillah - bukan waktu exam je amik cuti - buatlah STEP ini, yakni melangkah ke alam 7 thaun dan tidak meninggalkan solat A BIG Thing! "mama amik cuti hari ni sebab nak pastikan yang adik solat 5 waktu sehari!"

3)Selalu cerita how IMPORATANT it is to solat..how Allah is watching us... how we are good Muslims when we solat, how Allah loves us, Solat tu, untuk kita, bukan untuk Allah.....TAPI selalu jugak cerita yang akan ada orang TAK solat...acknowledge the fact that sometimes we feel lazy to solat....itu semua kerja SETAN! Fight them off....! I tell Amna that even some grown ups tak solat! I tell Amna that....we have to be strong.. we have to tell ourselves we will NEVER miss our solat.....

4)Awal2 subuh ni memang tak bangunkan, tapi as soon as dia bangun pagi, ill ask her to solat straight away.(yes memang leceh..but we have to, and we have to do it with LOVE diselang seli dgn strictness)

5)kalau dia tinggal - DENGAN sengaja, i take the rotan and hit her on her tapak tangan slowly, just as a reminder. After that i hug her and tell her i love her, and i just want her to remember - and guess what?? memang dia ingat!!! (3 kali baru, i think not bad, sampai satu hari dia terlambat solat, sebab keluar dan memang tak ingat, dia yang suruh rotan) But i tell her kalau TERLUPA atau TERTIDUR its ok...but kena solat terus bila bangun.

Macam ni ceritanya, i told Amna, kalau Ummi ambik Amna dari sekolah lambat, Amna solat dulu Asar kat sekolah....tadi memang datang lambat... i was loking for her..and guess what????

She was actually praying her Asar prayers... sorang je kat dalam surau tu.... i wanted to pengsan and cry... she did all by herself.... i pun told her how happy and how proud i was of her... i tanya dia kenapa? dia kata "Amna ingat apa Ummi cakap"..... cair nya hatiku ini.

Apa lagi, Ummi ni peluk cium dia.... and called nenek at Australia... now im sharing with all of you!!! Because i want us to raise generation of good Muslims that are disciplined, smart, intelligent -that remembers Allah because the world so BADLY needs good QUALITY Muslims like this!!!

And the foundation is - to start them off right - solat at SEVEN! Yes just as how Rasulullah asked us!I love you all!!! Good night..... But the key to all this IS Mak Ayah KENA dan WAJIB solat dulu...anak ketam tak boleh diajar berjalan terus...fahamkan? -fb wardina
